Surviving The Recession – July 2009

A brilliant article from bayt.com and YouGov. Here is a quick brief of the article

“Riyadh, KSA, July 2009, 28% of Saudi Arabia’s residents have cut down on their household expenditure in response to the current recession – one of the lowest decreases in the Gulf region, according to the latest study by the Middle East’s number one job site – Bayt.com – in conjunction with research specialists YouGov. The study found that around the rest of the region, 30% of professionals have cut down on their household spending, while just over a quarter of all respondents have actually increased their household budget. “

Top 10 Simpsons episodes as per 3 guys!

As the saying goes “the 3 wise man said…” no this is not a rant on the religious or the profoundly holly. Well it could be if everyone thought of the Simpsons the way 2 of my esteemed friends do. We all came about this simple fact which i guess the older fans may have observed: the older episodes prior to season 12 had a bit more depth and the writing was a bit more refined. After season 12 it just felt like another sitcom. Nevertheless its our SImpsons and we love it !

So without further interruptions we give you our top 10 episodes: (subject to many discerning followers)

1. 163 – 810 January 12, 1997  3G01   “The Springfield Files”
2. 113 – 610 December 4, 1994  2F07   “Grampa vs. Sexual Inadequacy”
3. 115 – 612 January 8, 1995  2F09    ”Homer the Great”
4. 129 – 701 September 17, 1995  2F20   “Who Shot Mr. Burns? Part 2″
5. 136 – 708 November 19, 1995  3F06   “Mother Simpson”
6. 162 – 809 January 5, 1997  3F24   “El Viaje Misterioso de Nuestro Jomer
(The Mysterious Voyage of Homer)”
7. 207 – 1004 October 25, 1998  AABF01   “Treehouse of Horror IX”
8. 216 – 1013 February 7, 1999  AABF09   “Homer to the Max”
9. 230 – 1104 October 31, 1999  BABF01   “Treehouse of Horror X”
(Stretch dude and Clobber Girl segment! )
10. 118 – 615 February 12, 1995  2F12   “Homie the Clown”

Of course these are just a few of us going about it. The idea of this list was that we constantly make references in some way to these 10 episodes more than one occasion. I am sure there are other amazing episodes out there. I think thats what makes the Simpsons so intertwined is the ability to bring it to everyone’s center stage.

I leave you with one fine quote by Homer: “Dear Lord.. The gods have been good to me. For the first time in my life, everything is absolutely perfect just the way it is. So here’s the deal: You freeze everything the way it is, and I won’t ask for anything more. If that is OK, please give me absolutely no sign. OK, deal.”

Movies that must be viewed in HD ! (BLURAY)

This past few years has been a galleria of HD deserving titles. I can’t guarantee that all the upcoming list will appeal to everyone but i think i have something for everyone in this little segment.

Of course my own obsession with HD-DVD and Bluray really took center stage once Iron Man showed up! It’s one of this perfect everything titles (subject to debate of course.)
But enough redundancies and on with the list: (in no particular order)

* iron Man 2
Well this title is not even remotely in theaters yet but will in 2010. A must have and i am sure the overall experience will be out of this world.

* Star Trek 2009
This movie is just too much. If my brothers (who are no where close to sci-fi) watched it and had a jaw dropping experience, we must add it to the list.

* Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
I love the first Transformers on HD-DVD! One of my killer discs i like to show off the projector with. Haven’t seen the movie yet but am sure the BD version will be something else.

* GodFather on BD
Remastered to perfection! this title does not need any ideas to be written about it.

* The Dark Nite: BATMAN
This was the movie that made me go out and buy an amazing Panasonic 50 Plasma which knocked the HD Projector out of the water. The features and extras on the disc are phenomenal.

* Pixar Movies:
typically most of the movies coming from these folks are all eye candy!
